Using our Progressive Web App (PWA)
This page provides an explanation of the Progressive Web App (PWA) Player, detailing its use and advantages as a browser-based application for displaying TrilbyTV content.
What is a Progressive Web App?
A Progressive Web App is an application built to run inside a web browser, which takes advantage of modern technology to allow you to have an app-like experience on a wide range of devices.
To keep TrilbyTV available to hardware which cannot run the TrilbyTV Player app, such as ChromeOS and a wide range of smart televisions, we have created a TrilbyTV Player PWA. This means there is nothing to install or update. It's updated every time it restarts.
NOTE
- We suggest using a dedicated Player App where possible, as this can allow additional options within the Player Settings.
- As caching on a PWA is limited by the browser configuration and device, we cannot confirm how much storage is available, which may affect playback if the device goes offline.
- We cannot guarantee that our PWA will work on every device, especially older hardware, so be sure to test performance before a larger deployment.
How to create a PWA Player
- On your device, open a web browser and go to https://player.trilbytv.co.uk
- Click Start and make note of the 8-digit Player Code
- Open Players and click Add Player
- Enter the 8-digit Player code and give the Player a name
- Set the Default Playback as required, whether a Category, Playlist or Single Item
